G.W. West: The Hidden Fish

The Sampson Arts Council is proud to present G.W. West: The Hidden Fish — a stunning collection of scenic paintings inspired by the beauty just outside the artist’s back door. From rustic barns to winding rivers and quiet country landscapes, each piece captures the peaceful spirit of rural life — with one unique detail: a symbolic hidden fish woven into every work, representing the artist’s faith. 

Artist Reception & Show Dates

Meet the Artist: Thursday, October 2 @ 5:30 PM

The Artist Reception will be held on Thursday, October 2 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Meet G.W., view his stunning works, and enjoy hors d'oeuvres and musical entertainment in the beautiful setting of the Victor R. Small House. This is a wonderful opportunity to support a local artist and immerse yourself in the vibrant art scene of Sampson County.


Exhibition Dates: October 2 through October 30, 2025

G.W. West is a visual artist from Clinton, NC. West draws inspiration from the world just beyond his back door — barns, rivers, and quiet country landscapes that reflect the beauty of rural life. Each painting invites viewers to pause and look closer, revealing a symbolic hidden fish tucked within the scene, a personal expression of the artist’s faith.
