Join us as we honor loved ones and celebrate community through the traditions of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). The Sampson Arts Council invites you to contribute to a community ofrenda, enjoy family-friendly activities at the Día de Sampson Celebration on November 2, and visit the completed ofrenda in the Victor R. Small House gallery the following week. All events are free and open to the public.
Community members are invited to contribute to the Día de Sampson ofrenda by submitting a photo (5×7 or smaller) of a deceased loved one. Photos may be dropped off at the Sampson Arts Council, Victor R. Small House from October 28–31, 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. and 2:00–5:00 p.m. Please attach your name and contact information to the back of each photo so we can return it after the event. Photo pickup will take place on Wednesday, November 12, from 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. and 2:00–5:00 p.m.
Join us for Día de Sampson on Saturday, November 2, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. at the Sampson Arts Council, Victor R. Small House. This free community celebration will feature live music, face painting, children’s crafts, refreshments, and the unveiling of the community ofrenda created with photos and offerings from local families. All are welcome to take part in this vibrant tradition that honors our loved ones and brings our community together.
The completed community ofrenda will be on display in the Victor R. Small House gallery from Sunday, November 2, through Friday, November 7. Gallery hours are 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. and 2:00–5:00 p.m. Visitors are invited to view the beautiful tributes, handcrafted offerings, and photos honoring loved ones, experiencing the art, memory, and community spirit at the heart of Día de Sampson.
