Celebrate Salemburg native Willie Weeks, one of the most in-demand bass guitarists in modern music. From Eric Clapton to Vince Gill, Aretha Franklin to The Rolling Stones—Weeks’ legendary sound has shaped decades of music.
Join us as we honor his legacy with a mural in his hometown.
Join us for Willie Weeks Day in the Town of Salemburg as we proudly unveil and dedicate a mural honoring legendary bass guitarist and Salemburg native, Willie Weeks. The celebration takes place on June 5, 2025, from 5:30–7:30 PM at the Strickland Building (112 N. Main Street, Salemburg, NC). Recognized for his work with music greats like Vince Gill, Eric Clapton, and The Rolling Stones, Weeks’ influence spans generations—earning praise from George Harrison, who once said, "I'd rather have Willie Weeks on bass than Paul McCartney." Attendees will have the opportunity to meet Willie Weeks and muralist Scott Nurkin, while enjoying hors d'oeuvres and musical entertainment. Special thanks to Philip Macias for allowing us to use his photo of Willie Weeks in our promotional materials.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be held indoors at Salemburg Town Hall, 100 Methodist Dr, Salemburg, NC. For more information, call 910-525-5650 or visit
