Carli Batson is a graduate of Appalachian State University where she was captain of the ASU Dance Team. She has a degree in Communication and resides in Wilmington. Carli represented Sampson County at Miss North Carolina as Miss Greater Sampson County 2019. She then went on to win Miss North Carolina 2021 and represent our state at the Miss America pageant during that year. She was able to graduate debt free from university - having been awarded over $30,000 in scholarships through her participation in the Miss America Organization. Carli created an arts advocacy program called Carolina Cares and has a passion for arts programs and arts funding throughout our state. She is a board member at the Opera House in Wilmington and works throughout our state as an emcee of events and a mentor for young women.
Angela Martin, a Sampson County native, is an avid arts supporter. She is the Artistic Director of Sampson Community Theatre, having directed over 80 productions. She graduated from Midway High School and earned a Bachelor's in Political Science from NC State University. Angela has performed globally and at the Vatican for Pope John Paul II as a featured soloist with Up With People. She studied at the London School of Drama and holds master's degrees in Theatre and Education from UNC-Greensboro. As a theatre arts teacher at Hobbton High School, she's been honored as Sampson County Schools Teacher of the Year. Angela directed the world premiere of the American Idol Experience at Walt Disney World and currently runs Angela's Musical Troupe, offering voice and theatre classes. She directs the Roseboro First Baptist Church Choir, teaches at Sampson Community College, and leads local scholarship pageants.
