Victor R. Small House

709 College St. in Clinton
$75 for members - $90 for nonmembers

Students will design a composition of their choice, while looking to inspiration of the things that truly inspire them.  They will create a mosaic with an assortment of broken glass and ceramics pieces on a wood backing.  Once they have designed their composition, they will glue the pieces to the wood, allow that to dry, and grout the tiles onto the wood.

Within the three day workshop, students will create a self-portrait in a full range of value in pencil.  They explore the possibilities that can be reached in such a simple medium as pencil, as well as learning to use the eraser as a drawing tool. The student will explore their own features focusing on the shapes, lines and values, breaking it up into the abstractions that make up what one sees.  "The longer I look at an object, the more abstract it appears and, ironically, the more real." - Lucien Freud

Creating Comics with Keith Carter

1:00-5:00pm
Victor R. Small House
709 College St. in Clinton

$60 for members - $75 for nonmembers

In this two-day workshop, students will examine how comics are professionally generated and produced. The class will also focus on the analysis of the comic art form itself, from its broadest informative principles to its finest entertaining detail. Each student will have the opportunity to create their own personal comic and/or cover design. This is a unique, one-of-a-kind workshop for all comic book/graphic novel devotees everywhere.
