Recap of 2018 Golf Fore the Arts

The ninth annual "Golf Fore the Arts" Golf Tournament sponsored by the Sampson Arts Council was held June 1, 2018, at Coharie Country Club in Clinton. A sponsor's and golfer's reception was held at the Victor R. Small House on May 31st.

The Sampson Arts Council would like to thank our community for making our annual fundraiser a huge success! We were thrilled to have 17 teams including 68 golfers, and 86 business and individual sponsors! A very special thank you to our Birdie Sponsors: Hog Slat and McDonald's/Caison Enterprises, and Par Sponsors: US Foods and Star Communications.

South Catering/Southern Smoke BBQ donated the delicious food for our sponsor's and golfer's reception on May 21st at the Victor R. Small House. On tournament day, our golfers were treated to biscuits donated by McDonald's of Clinton and lunch by Smithfield's Chicken 'N Bar-B-Q.

Hole in One sponsor for the tournament was Performance Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Ford of Clinton.

This event was a huge success because of the dedication and hard works of our golf committee, chaired by Jeff Shipp.

We were so excited to have a four generation team participate this year! The Griffin Team, ranging in age from 11 to 87, included Hudson Griffin, his father Bryan, Grandfather Greg and Great Grandfather Everett. They had a great day on the course, placing second in the second flight!

Funds raised from Golf Fore the Arts provide three weeks of Summer Art Camps (for grades 1-6) and three Art Workshops for students (grades 7-12) in June - August for over 100 children. The SAC is thrilled to offer 40 art camp scholarships to select students from Sampson County and Clinton City Schools to attend art camp free of charge. Funds raised also sustain ongoing operations of the Arts Council so we can continue to produce programs and events that advance the arts and engage our county's residents and visitors. With your generous support, we are able to provide unique arts programming throughout the year such as Student Art Club, Gallery Exhibits, Artist Receptions, Adult Art Workshops and Pottery Classes. We cannot thank everyone enough for their support of the Arts in Sampson County!

Thank you to our 2018 Golf Committee for making this event a huge success!
